The concept provides a really fun & easy way for you to remember a year - you upload a photo every day, and it forms a "calendar" for you. It's even printable and the printed sets look super pretty! (But the printing's also very expensive, sigh.) Because time flies so fast that I often don't remember what I've spent my year on, I'm hoping that trying this will help! Also, I'm often too lazy to take photos of memorable/beautiful things - this year, I'd planned to go on a film photography project of taking a photo of the sunrise every day from the same spot on my way to school, except it never materialised because I'm always waking up too late. No wish to elaborate - obviously - so I won't. To those I have to apologize to, I can't say it enough: I'm really, really sorry. It's given me a lot to think about, and trust me, I have been thinking about it a lot. [Tuesday, November 17th, 2009 @ 1:20am] aspettame That dash of Midori was supposed to make me go to bed but it doesn't seem to have worked because here I am at almost 1am typing this while I should be sound asleep so I can get up at 630 tomorrow. But it so happened that I decided to do some research because I was watching Nakagawa play with a pick and usually people are like, "NOOOO bassists who use picks are n00bz and should be shot!!!" and I'm like, "But I love Nakagawa and he is AWESOME and he uses picks almost all the time!!!" So amidst all the accusations of "picking is n00b!" and "fingerpickers are just scared of the progression of the bass" what I got was that fingerpicking produces a more organic sound which people prefer and picking produces a different kind of sound. Then I decided to look at the Japanese forums, and I think they are less discriminating towards picking techniques. Someone commented that he's got a sense of the nuances in the music rather than knowing the differences between fingerpicking and picking. Or something like that. My Japanese is very bad. :( But what I realised is how beautifully and intricately the band crafts their music so that it's not about the individual instruments but the music as a whole. They don't need mind-blowing guitar or drum solos (though that is always nice hee) to make honest, good rockin' music that touches you to the core. It's said that Tahara plays a very "non-assertive guitar" in that he's very toned down, but yet what he does always suits the song so well. I think I see that now. And... Thematic Letters Collection [Tuesday, November 17th, 2009 @ 12:56am] yuletide [pseudicide] I know, I'm mad. I have to be. I have a few friends who wait until the letters go up every year and trawl them, wanting to write stories for Yuletide even though they don't sign up to participate. I myself go through and pick things I would love to see written, if not things I could actually write myself. Because isn't half the fun looking at prompts and wondering if a story is going to show up XMAS day for it? Anyway. For ease of stalking, I may have spent tonight making lists of Yuletide letters by theme. I'll admit, I only picked the ones that interested me specifically at the time (though I'll likely go through and make more lists later). Also I may have missed things. This happens, I hear. art leads to more art [Monday, November 16th, 2009 @ 9:08pm] twinkilya I don't know how else to honour a complete stranger who actually made icons from my photography, except to publicise her beautiful work. So iconista_chanel, this post is for you :) Icons be here! I was so surprised to find that she's just 12! When I was 12, my icons were like this: (made from photos I'd taken at the P5 Sentosa Amazing Race) (my dressed-up Gaia avatar... oh my gosh) And my idea of a good icon was: HAHA. So embarrassing.
